My work is rooted in direct observation—drawing from still life, live models, and the natural world. Drawing is the foundation of my practice. It sharpens perception and allows me to stay connected to the essence of what I see.
When creating a nude, portrait, or still life, I seek a balance between faithful observation and personal interpretation. The closer I remain to reality, the more naturally my own visual language emerges. At a certain moment, intuition takes over, allowing me to move beyond representation and bring a more personal dimension into the work.
An important part of my practice is textile creation. I begin with drawing from nature, then work with materials such as silk and taffeta and others, carefully constructing each piece by hand. Fabric allows me to explore texture, movement, and depth in a tactile and intimate way.
I also create mixed-media works that combine drawing with textile elements. This connection between line and material creates a dialogue between precision and softness, structure and fluidity.
My oil paintings are inspired by the rich flora of Florida. Tropical flowers—with their vibrant colors and intricate forms—offer endless possibilities for exploration. I translate these motifs into expressive compositions focused on light, color, and atmosphere.
Living and working between Florida and Poland shapes my artistic perspective. These two environments offer different rhythms, light, and moods, which naturally influence my work.

Through my art, I aim to capture the quiet beauty of nature and a sense of calm.

Biografia

Ewa Kalińska urodziła się w Gdańsku.
